The band Elise & The Sugarsweets has chosen Blues Actu Radio to unveil its new single Give Me One Kiss. The track is on air all day on May 7 on our station, ahead of its official release the following day. It is built around one idea: reminding us that the strongest emotions often come through the simplest gestures. With this intimate and luminous song, the band opts for a stripped-down approach, both in writing and production, leaving full space for emotion. We met them, and they tell us about the genesis of this project.
Formed in the early 2010s, Elise & The Sugarsweets has been developing a musical universe blending soul, rhythm & blues, and more contemporary influences. A balance the band continues to refine with this new track, conceived as a true confession addressed to the listener.
“Sometimes, a simple gesture can mean everything”
For the band, the idea behind the song came naturally: “It comes from something very simple… and ultimately quite universal. At some point, you realize over time that it’s rarely the big declarations or spectacular gestures that sustain a relationship. It’s the little things: a look, a smile, a quiet attention, a stolen kiss… things that are almost invisible, but that say so much.”

This reflection quickly became the guiding thread of the song. “There was a need to return to something sincere, direct, without artifice. The desire to talk about love in its simplest form. And maybe also to contrast with a world where everything moves fast, where everything becomes a bit demonstrative. The idea came as an obvious one: reminding us that sometimes a simple gesture, like a kiss, can carry everything we don’t express otherwise.”
Musically, Elise & The Sugarsweets aimed to build a suspended moment, designed as an immediate closeness with the listener. “We really wanted to create something luminous, intimate, almost like a confession. Something that feels like a suspended moment, but also like being wrapped in a bubble. The goal was to go straight to the essentials, to keep things very simple musically, leaving all the space to the voice. A voice that speaks gently, almost in the listener’s ear, in a very close and sincere way.”
A deliberately stripped-down production
The band fully embraces this sense of restraint, both in writing and arrangements. “We live in a world where everything is amplified, overloaded, demonstrative… and at some point, we felt the need to move toward something more real, more stripped-back. For us, talking about everyday gestures meant not overdoing it. The form had to match the substance.”

Arnaud Fradin behind the controls
The track was recorded and mixed by Arnaud Fradin (Malted Milk) alongside Antoine Escalier at Gumbo Lab Studio, with the aim of preserving the organic and intimate feel of the song. “We deliberately stripped everything down to the maximum. Every element was designed to serve the emotion, without overemphasizing it. The idea was almost to disappear behind the song and keep only what matters.”
In this approach, influences mattered less than the sensations they wanted to convey. “We all listen to a lot of different music. But overall, we focused more on expressing an intention, an atmosphere, rather than following a specific style or influence. The idea was to create a subtle frame that lets the light through without filtering it. We wanted every element to breathe, and for silence to matter as much as the notes.”
The band ultimately sums up the spirit of Give Me One Kiss in a few words: “More than specific references, it’s really about sensations: softness, restraint, closeness. And also the idea that by doing less, you actually say much more. That simplicity is a form of demand. Because when you strip everything away, all that remains is the emotion of the soul…”
It remains to be seen whether this single announces a larger project. On that note, Elise & The Sugarsweets keep some mystery: “Should we reveal what’s next already? Or just tell you: stay tuned!”
Give Me One Kiss is available exclusively on Thursday, May 7 on Blues Actu Radio ahead of its official release on May 8.
