Probably assuming that their fans would come from many different backgrounds, CHARB-ON wanted to highlight this plurality by putting together a debut EP that reflects exactly that.
This results in varied tracks that reveal several sides of their personality. From the very first notes, they hint at an intravenous shot of adrenaline. Musically spotless, they deliver five top-tier songs with remarkable fluidity. They also bring back the musical richness of a bygone era that inspires them most. “The Austin Sessions” carries the quiet confidence of sincere, authentic musicians who know their classics inside out.
Owning their roots while adding a very contemporary energy, these three bandmates do solid work, each in their role. Their fuel is made of blues and garage rock, and switching from English to French doesn’t throw them off at all. The balance between influence and creativity is there. By keeping the original spirit while embracing today’s sound, the Bordeaux trio makes the most of their strengths and serves up a blend that goes down smoothly. And even if the record could use a touch of madness, its spontaneity leaves many short-lived bands far behind. It’s reassuring to see artists who build themselves step by step, with work, passion, and above all, talent.
Probably indifferent to criticism, the trio has freed itself from its influences – tasteful but overwhelming – to shape its own identity. They forge their own vision of the genre with the good sense to avoid imitation or excess.
