On March 6, Malted Milk will release Time Out, its eighth album. The Nantes-based band opens 2026 with a record that extends its soul blues roots while further broadening its musical spectrum. A new chapter in a journey shaped by groove, collective playing, and a constant desire to explore new territories.
In continuity, but without routine
With Time Out, Malted Milk continues an approach that has defined the band since its early days: keeping soul and blues alive without locking them into a fixed framework. Around Arnaud Fradin, the group has long embraced an open-minded perspective, where each album slightly shifts the focus. Arnaud mentioned it in our interview:
“We’ve always felt the need to move forward and not make the same record twice. What drives us is staying curious, continuing to enjoy playing together, and surprising ourselves.”
This philosophy clearly runs through Time Out, conceived as a record of breathing space, openness, and the circulation of influences.
And still, collaborations
This eighth album also unfolds within a strongly collective dimension. True to its taste for crossing musical worlds, Malted Milk opens the record to other aesthetics, notably through a collaboration with BIM (Bénin International Musical), which brings an afrobeat color to the project. A way for the band to keep soul and groove moving beyond their usual boundaries.
“Collaborations are part of the band’s DNA. When we invite someone, it’s not just to look good on a press release, it’s because it genuinely feeds the music and challenges the way we play.”

Let’s groove!
As is often the case with Malted Milk, the album is also conceived in direct connection with the stage. The release of Time Out will be accompanied by an extensive SMAC tour in 2026, culminating at La Cigale on March 26. The date is designed as a special event night, with several guests announced, including 20SYL, Hugh Coltman, and Ben l’Oncle Soul.
For this Paris show, the band also wanted to turn the opening slot into a genuine platform for emerging artists. A call has been launched to select a project that will open the evening at La Cigale. A concrete way to extend their commitment to passing the torch and supporting young bands.
“We all started out playing in front of three people and a dog. If we can now offer a real stage to a band just starting out, we’re happy to do it. It’s a way of giving back a little of what we received.”
With Time Out, Malted Milk confirms its ability to renew itself without denying its roots. An album that stands both as a new recorded milestone and as the starting point of a new concert cycle, conceived as a space for transmission.
Time Out, the new album by Malted Milk, will be released on March 6, 2026.
