On March 13, Cat Clyde released her fourth album, Mud Blood Bone, on Concord Records. The Canadian singer, joined by Liam Duncan, Matt Stoessel, Erik Olson, Charles LaMont Garner and Robby Handley, recorded this new opus in Athens, Georgia (USA). After a notable solo performance at Pop-Up du Label in September 2024, Cat Clyde returned to the French capital at Supersonic Records, this Tuesday, April 28, with her full band. Blues Actu was there and tells the story.

9:00 PM, Cat Clyde does not take the stage. Her three musicians, dressed in almost identical outfits, appear first. A bass, a guitar and drums introduce the Canadian singer. In a folk-blues build-up, her band raises both volume and temperature. The singer of the night finally steps on stage and begins her set. The strength of Cat Clyde lies in her ability to move between genres like few artists do. She blends rock, blues, folk and indie into an americana sound that fits her perfectly.
A controlled set from start to finish
Her previous album Down Rounder and Mud Blood Bone are both featured. Everywhere I Go, The Gloom, Where Is My Love and My Love open the show. The songs respond to each other, exploring themes of love and release, with Cat Clyde conducting it all. The setlist, built like a poem, unfolds through the musicians and the singer-guitarist’s talent. The band’s control is evident throughout.
With Cat Clyde, everything sounds like a classic. The Canadian artist, with her command of her craft, carries an effortless confidence that makes both her songs and her set sound spot on. Very well supported, her musicians respond to her cues. She leads, they answer. The chemistry is clear. The audience, quite diverse, listens attentively before bursting into excitement on All the Black. Cat Clyde breathes blues and rock. Her songs, performed and reworked for the stage, expand with intensity, to the delight of the hundred or so people in attendance. Wild One, a standout track from the album, reminds us just how much
The encore arrives. Cat Clyde returns to the stage for a single song, instead of the two originally planned, performing solo. She thanks the audience and the evening comes to an end. This somewhat abrupt ending was not her choice. Blues Actu is already looking forward to Cat Clyde’s next visit to France. She delivered a strong performance and left a lasting impression on the Paris crowd. Hats off to the artist.
Cat Clyde is currently wrapping up her European tour before heading to Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands this summer. No dates in France are scheduled at the moment.
