French-Canadian writer and translator Luc Baranger officially joins the Blues Actu team. The author of seventeen novels, a lifelong blues enthusiast, and a songwriter for Paul Personne and Nico Wayne Toussaint, he will now contribute original short stories inspired by the world of musicians, live performances, and the people who keep the blues alive.
Luc Baranger‘s life has been as eventful as his fiction. A roadie for the Steve Gibbons Band in England, an educator in a secure youth facility in Canada, a submersible operator, a ministerial adviser in Vanuatu, and the translator of more than sixty American novels, he draws on these remarkable experiences to create stories where memory, justice, injustice, and human destinies intertwine.
Several of his seventeen novels feature iconic figures of American music, including J.J. Cale, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Fogerty, Emmylou Harris, and Rory Gallagher. His latest novel, Dès les pâlissements de l’aube (At the First Light of Dawn), follows the journey of a Lakota man from Wounded Knee to the trenches of the First World War. His forthcoming novel, Les Bellavance, explores a disturbing judicial dilemma set against a backdrop of political corruption and Quebec’s biker wars.

Through the eyes of a novelist and with a deep love for the blues, Luc Baranger will bring a new storytelling voice to Blues Actu. His fiction, inspired by artists, concert halls, and the passionate people who keep this music alive every day, will regularly enrich our publication.
Welcome to the Blues Actu team, Luc. We look forward to sharing your very first story with our readers! 🎸📖
